'Children are the leaders of tomorrow' is the usual chant of teachers, parents, and the children themselves.
In fact, I remember vividly the popular rhyme of those days that echoes similar lines.
Howbeit, do we keep singing, proclaiming, and wishing until we are disappointed to see our beloved children, youths, and students become even way worse than we can imagine?
We must do something and stop the watch, wonder, and complaints before things get out of hand.
As parents, educators, and teachers, we have a highly important role to play here.
Society is rapidly evolving; values are fast eroding and our long-upheld values painfully give way to the evil agenda of the mastermind on the other side every day. Unfortunately, as parents and educators, we keep handling teaching and parenting the same way.
Attack, they say, is the best form of defense. Being on the defensive without launching an attack is preparing for failure and defeat. But are we in the position to launch an attack and how do we go about it?
Yes! We have the destinies of these innocent young minds in our hands and we should therefore accept responsibility for this fragile generation day after day.
We have complained enough, we have murmured enough, and we have imagined all sort of possible future havoc if things should continue this way.
So, what steps can we take right direction? Do we keep nursing high hopes that things will just fall in place automatically? Like, ‘they will be fine by God’s grace.’
No, no, no. We have done enough of that but to no avail. We must now take conscious steps, decisions, and actions to ensure we prepare these future leaders into becoming leaders that would move the world in the right direction and shun all negative influences and vices currently creeping into the nook and cranny of this generation.
The good news is there is an actionable way out!
Today marks the beginning of our series on “I choose to champion positive change for nation-building.”
While I take a halt erecting this background, ensure you commit to a positive change in your own world every blessed day – Your own world here refers to the world around you, that is to say, your little sphere of influence. We all can do something before things get out of hand with our youths, students, children, and nation.
The future actually lies in our hands. We must accept responsibility for a molding privilege and launch into timely and proactive action. These children are the future, our future, and it is high time we lent a collaborative hand in building the world and future we desire. It is never going to happen by accident or one miraculous intervention.
In conclusion, until we impart positivity, high moral values, and sound character to our present generation as we play our roles as educators, teachers, parents, and patriotic citizens of our beloved nation, nothing will happen.
Go out there and make and impart in your own little way within your privileged sphere of influence today!
Next week, we go into further details in this series. But before then, what little impart do you pledge to make in the coming week? Would love to hear from you. Drop your comment in the box below.
Cheers!! Till we meet again next week.
Do enjoy your weekend with the family. . .
