Quality of sleep is as important for good health as proper nutrition and physical activities, it has been shown that lack of sleep affects the concentration level of a person negatively. It has also been proven that proper sleep habit improves brain functioning and decision making skills. It is not about how long a person sleeps but how effective or rather, the quality of sleep the person gets.
Children within age 0-10 should have quality of sleep of about 12hours, children within age 11-16 should have about 9hours of sleep and adults should have atleast 7hours of sleep. When the body gets the right amount of sleep, the brain releases the human growth hormone which helps the body grow, repair damage and build the muscle. Getting atleast 7hours of sleep as an adult improve the immune functioning. It is as well essential for maintaining optimal health and well-being.

2. Quality sleep maximizes problem solving skills and enhances memory processing.
3. It improves the emotional well-being of an individual.
4. Sleep promotes the formation of synopses where memories are stored this is connected to the brain cells.

6. It enhances an individual’s focus and attention skills.
Tips to Enhance Sleep Habit.
1. Stick to a sleep schedule and wake-up time.
2. Pay attention to what you eat and drink.
3. Physical activity should be included in one’s daily routine.
4. Resolve worries and stress before bedtime.
5. Reduce long daytime naps.
6. Take a bath or practice relaxation techniques such as meditation.
7. The room should be cool, quiet and at a comfortable temperature.
8. Do away with the screen at least 20minutes before bedtime. However, for children especially those who are hyperactive, it should be two hours before sleep.
It is important to maintain a good sleep habit to ensure the body is in good shape and for proper functioning of the brain cells.
