Happy New Year My Dear Reader!
We have navigated through 2021 successfully and finally, we have entered 2022. The Association of Nigerian Educational Psychologists (ANEP) is excited to congratulate you on this feat and wishes you the very best in all your endeavours this year.
Moreso, we are keener to send in our first newsletter for the year. We hope to serve you with more amazing and useful content as the weeks go by.
Goals, goals, goals…
It’s that time of the season where we set goals that we would like to achieve in the new year. The importance of goal-setting, whether on an individual or a collective scale cannot simply be overlooked.
Why are goals so important though?
Let’s get a bit scientific, shall we?
When embarking on a scientific study, there are processes that need to be strictly followed. One of these processes is called setting a hypothesis. A hypothesis is a prediction of the outcome of the study. It tailors the activities of the scientist to ensure that everything is done to achieve the projected result.
One can think of goal setting in this manner.
Setting goals in the new year is like making predictions of what the year would look like. These goals guide our decisions to ensure that we make the most of our time.
How should my goals look like?
Goals should be simple, realistic and based on the interests of the planner. Goals should also entail the plans that will be undertaken in order to accomplish them.
What are ANEP’s goals this year?
To raise awareness about Educational Psychology in Nigeria. Brace yourselves because una no go hear word this year.
Organise training, seminars, and workshops for teachers, students, parents and the general public.
Engage in deep and well-grounded research to bring out results that will shake the foundations of education in Nigeria.
My Dear Reader if I keep listing our goals, both of us will sleep here today. Just look out for us this year because we will be everywhere you go.
Share your thoughts with us about goal setting. We wish you good luck as you proceed with your goals. Happy New Year once again!
Cheers,
Ewoma Omoghene
